National Cat Day– October 29 mark the celebration of cats worldwide. Colleen Paige, who originally created National Dog Day, started National Cat Day in 2005. Although the day has passed learn more about how to celebrate cats.

Pahoa, Hawaii– A volcano on Hawaii’s Big Island erupted, causing molten lava to run down into residential areas.  According to Reuters, the lava from Kilauea volcano has been slowly spreading at a rate of 10 to 15 yards toward the town of Pahoa, Hawaii. The volcano threatens homes and buildings.

International Space Station– The New York Times reports an unmanned cargo rocket has exploded at the International Space Station in Virginia. The cargo rocket was to carry supplies  to the station after the successful launch of NASA’s Antares rocket which carried supplies and science experiments. Further investigation will take place, but no one was injured.
