You cannot hide for long. Best friends are now enemies, and strangers are now allies. ‘Tis the season of senior assassin.

Since their alarm clocks buzzed on May 9, 150 seniors have been on the prowl with one mission: to annihilate their victims with squirt guns and water bottles.

Each person involved is given a new target each week that they need to “assassinate” outside of school property by squirting them with water. Once you make a successful kill, you must tweet a picture of the crime scene and then take on your next mark-  whomever your victim had to kill is now your target.

The masterminds behind this game, seniors Sara Travis and Parker Lescalleet, had been planning since mid-April, in hopes of making the seniors’ last few weeks memorable.

“Steering wanted something to make up for everything that seniors got taken away,” Travis said. “Having a fun activity that we get to handle ourselves gets people’s minds off of what we aren’t allowed to do.”

“It’s cool because we are the ones who run it; the school is uninvolved,” Lescalleet added. “It’s something just for us.”

Many have been successful in tracking down their prey, by doing anything from stalking on Facebook to following them home from school.

I didn’t even last the first day. I got shot at dance before I could attempt to get my target.

Within minutes of the start of the game, there were slaughters everywhere. Among the first successful assassins, was senior Nick Hong.

When asked about his successes, Hong kept his lips sealed, claiming that it was “classified information.”

An unexpected hit perpetrated by Lescalleet took senior Kerry Luiso out.

“I got out because he hid in my neighbor’s bushes, and waited until 7:20 A.M. to jump out at me,” Luiso said. “I figured no one would be at my house because I had first period study!”

Other people did not even get a chance to hunt down their first targets.

“I didn’t even last the first day. I got shot at at dance before I could attempt to get my target,” senior Naomi Greenspan said.

“I got out because one of my coworkers gave away my schedule, so I was shot coming out of work,” senior Frances Palmer said.

Where some people find themselves completely absorbed in this battle, others have crashed under paranoia, like senior Lily Scearbo, a victim of a self-inflicted assassination.

“I didn’t realize how creepy it was- all of a sudden someone I didn’t know was stalking me,” Scearbo said. “I just didn’t want to play anymore.”

The game will end on June 4 at midnight. The final survivor will take home all of the entry fee money, totaled at $444. If there is no last man standing, then the winner will be based on whoever had the most kills. Until then, there will be new victims every day.
