Competing at the Gymnastics meet on Jan. 30, 2024, junior Katie Jennings flips off the vault.

The gymnastics team was crowned the Midland Wachusett League Champions, with a season record of 7-1. Senior captains Madeline Ho and Mihika Pherwani share what this season was like for the team.

How did the season go overall?

“The season went really well and everyone worked really hard. The scores kept improving and we made sectionals for the first time in a few years,” Pherwani said.

“We won Leagues; we went from second to last to winning, which is a huge comeback,” Ho said.

What was the highlight of the season?

“I think it was the first meet we got a score of 139 because for the whole beginning of the season, we were like ‘Oh we just want to get a 137’ and then we exceeded that with a 139, which is really good,” Ho said.

Who were some of your key players? What players especially stepped up this season and how?

“I think some key gymnasts were Maddie and sophomore Kiera Akus, our two all-around gymnasts,” Pherwani said. “They both did a really good job and got so many new skills this year and they really worked hard and stepped up for the team. Also, junior Maya Regan is really good on bars and is very responsible.”

What was your team dynamic like?

“Our team dynamic was really good this year compared to last year because this year felt more united and fun and it felt like less pressure,” Ho said. “This year we kind of settled in.”
