2014-15 Recap

Last season, the varsity team placed eighth at states and were just two points away from qualifying for nationals. It was the best season ever for ARHS Cheer.

Key Athletes

Senior captain Meredith Smith and junior captain Kylie Eckler hope to lead the team to another successful season.

Some of the key athletes to watch are flyers (the people that get thrown in the air) specifically, sophomores Ava Hill and Coley Wales.

Outlook for 2015-16

“Algonquin Cheer is ready to be taken seriously by the school and be recognized as a real sport,” Smith said.

“We are coming off the best season Algonquin Cheerleading has ever had so we have high hopes for this season,” sophomore Kimberly Skinner said.

One major challenge they will face this year is a new team dynamic.

“Winter Cheer is different from fall with different roster and a different feel,” Smith said.

“So this season, we are back and ready as ever. We are ready to prove to those judges and our school that we have what it takes to make even more Algonquin history,” junior captain Kiley Eckler junior said.
