Through great determination and perseverance, the girls varsity cross country team made it to the State finals on November 15 for the second consecutive year.

Only the top seven runners and three alternates participated in post season competition.

At the District meet, the team was led by senior captain Megan Walsh, who placed 9th overall.  A third place finish as a team pushed them into the State competition, where they placed 18th.

Social studies teacher and coach Brian Kellett was pleased with the team’s success after all the hard work the girls put in.

“It has been a great accomplishment, and it hasn’t happened in twenty years.  The girls worked hard and they earned it” Kellett said.

The team dynamic helped propel the team to success.

Sophomore and state runner Katelyn Li said, “I feel like this season especially everybody is so close and we all support each other in every race to be the best we can be.”

Through bonding, cooperation, and motivation, the team gave their all this season.

“The whole team made it to States this year, which was exciting because it’s the second year in a row we’ve qualified as a team,” Li said. “I am really proud of the team’s performance this year, and not just the top ten.  Everybody on the team worked hard and had enthusiasm and we’ve had so much fun bonding.”
