Boys’ Basketball Preview: Team before individuals
December 23, 2015
2014-2015 Recap
7-14 overall
Fifth in Midland-Wachusett division
“We had a lot of talent, but we really couldn’t work together as a team,” senior Joe Wallace said. “People weren’t really dedicated and we didn’t put in all of the effort to become the team we should have been.”
“Last year we had a lot of individual players and this year we really came together,” senior captain Dylan Stetkiewicz said. “Now we try a lot harder in practice and we play for each other and that’s how we get things done.”
Key Athletes
Senior captains Jason Truax (center), Jake Clark (forward), Dylan Stetkiewicz (guard/forward) and Matt Geoffrion (center) along with starting sophomores Dillon Lien (guard/forward) and Kyle Henderson (guard).
“Our senior captains are leaders on and off the court both in the classroom, community, and on the court,” head coach Brian Doherty said. “We consider ourselves a family. Every player no matter what grade or position has a job to do and if we can continue to support each other, we will be a very good team. We take pride in representing ARHS.”
“[Kyle and Dillon are] two really talented kids. Their fundamentals are great and they have a bright future ahead of them,” Stetkiewicz said.
Outlook for 2015-2016
“Our biggest goal of this season is to have fun, win the league title, and get into the postseason tournament,” Doherty said. “Most important is that it is all about the memories that players will have from playing in front of family and friends.”
“We are a lot better than last year and we have a lot more guys who can play,” Geoffrion said.
“We should make it to WPI [for the district semifinals]” senior Jason Truax said.
