Sullivan back from injury to help lead boys soccer

Senior boys soccer captain Patrick Sullivan suffered through a brutal injury last season but is prepared to come back better than ever.

Sullivan, who plays defense, was forced to watch from the sidelines after being injured in the fifth game of the 2014 season.

“I fractured my femur and had to get screws put in. The screws connected the bone to metal plates so it would heal… It definitely hurt,” Sullivan said.

Sullivan had to sit out the rest of the games including the state semi-finals, but he was right back at it in the winter to prepare himself for the 2015 season.

“I was lucky that I didn’t have to go to physical therapy,” Sullivan said. “Running indoor track helped get my legs moving again, and then in the spring and summer I was right back playing soccer.”

Sullivan loves soccer and is happy to be playing with the “core group of guys” again.

“The team is really close. There were six or seven sophomores [now juniors] that are back again this year,” said Sullivan.

“Watching the team play from the sidelines was tough. I really wanted to be out there playing, but I was very happy for the team,” Sullivan said. “It was hard not to be happy.”

Sullivan has high hopes for this year’s team because it is filled with returning players who experienced success with last years squad.

“I want to win C-Mass again, I know we can do it, and we can even have a bid at States this year,” Sullivan said.
