Junior class president Izzy Miranda is using her ambitious goals and commitment to inclusivity to make this year another successful one.
Miranda, who was class president last year, decided to run again because she really enjoys the role and couldn’t imagine herself doing anything else.
“I felt like my job wasn’t finished and there was so much more that I wanted to do,” Miranda said.
Last year, Miranda played a major role in planning the successful car wash fundraiser and the Pep Rally. This year, she hopes to make class events even more inclusive.
“I want to expand and involve more people,” Miranda said. “I want to do more events for our class, and do what I did last year better.”
This year, Miranda has reintroduced the class merchandise line and helped plan Glo-Co, which sold around 150 tickets. She also has big goals for prom, but wants to make sure that funds are distributed in a way that benefits everyone.
“Not everyone enjoys prom, but it’s a big expense, so a lot of our funds go towards that,” Miranda said. “Not just that, but I also want to plan events for the class, [that students will enjoy], no matter what you do and what your background is.”
No matter what the future brings, Miranda says she loves being involved and making a real difference for her classmates.
“I think it’s just the interactions with others and seeing the effect that I can have on our class and what we do [that I enjoy most],” Miranda said.
