Near Algonquin, there’s a coffee shop that’s doing more than just serving great drinks, it’s building community, one cup at a time. Aero Coffee Roasters (Aero), located at 318 Main Street, is a locally owned café that has quietly become a favorite among locals, students and anyone who appreciates handcrafted coffee in a welcoming space.
Aero Coffee Roasters was founded by Peter Femino, a longtime coffee entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the industry, including running Boston Common Coffee Co. His dream for Aero was to create something that blended all his knowledge: a space that roasts its own beans, serves expertly made drinks and bakes fresh pastries on-site.
Originally set to open in February 2020, the shop’s launch was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. By June 2020, however, Aero opened its doors despite the initial challenges, it quickly became a staple in the Northborough community.

One of the first things you’ll notice when you walk into Aero is the delightful smell of coffee beans in the air. The atmosphere is warm with cozy seating options and an open layout that invites conversation, study or relaxation. It’s a place that feels both modern and warm, perfect for escaping the hustle of daily life.
What really sets Aero apart is its connection to the local community. Just down the road from Algonquin for a three-minute drive or a 12-minute walk, it’s become a popular study spot for students. The fast Wi-Fi and peaceful atmosphere make it ideal for getting work done, catching up with friends or just taking a break with a latte.

While coffee is clearly the star of the show, Aero’s in-house bakery deserves a shoutout. Everything is made fresh daily, from flaky croissants to rich muffins and rotating seasonal treats. Along with pastries, Aero offers delicious choices of breakfast or lunch sandwiches. It’s hard to leave without trying at least one baked good alongside your drink. They also have smoothies and refreshers if coffee is not your go-to.
I decided to just have the Tropicana Smoothie with a blend of papaya, guava, passionfruit, pineapple, mango and banana. The drink is a vibrant, refreshing blend of tropical fruits with a smooth, creamy texture that’s both energizing and naturally sweet. The smoothies only come in one size, a 16 ounce. With tax and a tip, the total came to $8.74.
Whether you’re a die-hard coffee fan or just someone looking for a peaceful spot to relax, Aero is the perfect spot. From expertly crafted drinks to a genuine sense of community, Aero has brewed a winning formula in the middle of Northborough.
So next time you’re in the area, skip the chain coffee and stop by Aero. Chances are, you’ll want to stay awhile.
Aero is open Monday – Friday from 6:30am – 4:00pm and on the weekends from 7:00am – 3:00pm.
