The spring season is finally approaching, and after months of brutal cold weather, it’s time to get outside and enjoy the sunshine. Whether you’re looking for something adventurous, or if you prefer a relaxing pastime, here are the top five activities to spend a spring day doing.
#5: Spring Cleaning
Spring cleaning is a fantastic way to start the season with a fresh slate. Use your free time to declutter your living space and refresh your environment. Not only will it leave your home cleaner and more inviting, but it can also boost your mental clarity and promote relaxation as you enter a new season. For a little extra motivation, consider taking a look at Pinterest for cleaning hacks or room rearrangement inspiration to make the process a little more fun.
#4: Outdoor Games
With the warm weather coming up fast, there’s no better time to get some fresh air and exercise with family and friends. Assemble a game of frisbee or cornhole in your backyard, or head to a nearby school or park, such as Ellsworth McAfee Park in Northborough or Fayville Park in Southborough, to play a game of soccer or basketball. Whether you’re ultra-competitive or prefer some family-friendly competition, heading outside is one of the best ways to spend the spring months. Plus, it’s a great way to take a short break from electronics and appreciate the sunshine.
#3: Host a Picnic
Spring is the perfect time to host a gathering with your loved ones and enjoy your favorite foods. Just grab a blanket, a picnic basket and a variety of snacks or some lunch items, and you’re ready to go! You can host it right in your backyard or at a nearby field, such as Dean Park in Shrewsbury. For the ultimate vibe, blast some spring-themed music and sing along with your friends. Bonus if you can find an aesthetically pleasing location for Instagram photos.
#2: Biking
An easily underrated but extremely fun spring activity is going on a bike ride. You can invite your friends and bike around town, or use the time alone to de-stress and relax while enjoying the light spring breeze. If you prefer more scenic routes, one of my personal favorites is the Mass Central Rail Trail in West Boylston. If you love being active, take advantage of the great weather and bike to local activities; just make sure you bring extra water and pack sunscreen.
#1: Spring Clothes Shopping
For those obsessed with shopping, spring is the best time to feed your addiction. It’s finally time to pack up your winter coats and long sleeves and bring out shorts, spring dresses and light jackets. If you are in desperate need of a wardrobe refresh, I would recommend checking out the Natick Mall or the Solomon Pond Mall in Marlborough. April break is coming up and summer vacation is right around the corner, so it’s ideal to head to your favorite stores as soon as possible and start browsing early to ensure nothing sells out.
