Senior Nathan Meschisen is ready for his third and final year as class president and hopes to make it memorable.
Meschisen ran for president at the end of his freshman year and was excited to learn he won. Ever since, he has been president of the Class of 2025 and looks forward to his final year leading the senior class.
“I think it’s important to make our senior year here the most memorable,” Meschisen said.
Meschisen is proud to have been elected class president three years in a row. Although he was nervous about the role at first, Meschisen feels great about his peers’ response to his work.
“It’s nice to know people liked me and liked what I’ve done in the past three years,” Meschisen said.
Physical Education teacher and senior class adviser Kristen Morcone believes Meschisen’s presidency is something to look forward to.
“I’m excited for Nathan to return again,” Morcone said. “I think the past few years he’s done a great job.”
Morcone likes Meschisen’s strong school pride and great ideas. She appreciates his empathy, good communication with his peers and his determination to make the senior year fun and enjoyable.
“He’s very driven for success and he cares a lot about what the rest of the class likes,” Morcone said.
Meschisen has enjoyed how being class president has given him opportunities to connect with his classmates.
“I like the dynamic that being class president gives me,” Meschisen said. “It allows me to try to talk to different groups of people I wouldn’t talk to otherwise.”
Meschisen doesn’t know if he is going to run for student government in college. Although already sad about leaving Algonquin behind, he is excited to graduate and move on to the next chapter of his life.
“I’m going to miss the opportunity of working with people [at Algonquin],” Meschisen said.
