The winter cheer team placed 2nd at the Shepherd Hill Invite, 3rd at Mid-Wach Leagues and 5th at the Division I CMASS tournament, led by captains senior Kailey Bardsley and juniors Olivia Mullen and Maggie Gorman. Mullen recounts the team’s successes from this past season.

How was the season overall? What worked for your team and what did not work?

“The season was pretty good. I think there we were a little unfocused at times, but we tried to fix it which helped a lot…Sometimes it was a little frustrating [when] working on competitions, but we try to minimize the amount of stress happening.”

What is your team dynamic like and how do you work together?

“I think our team dynamic is pretty good. A lot of us are friends outside of school. It’s beneficial that there’s trust between us.”

What was the most challenging part of this season?

“I think competing. There were a lot of newer people on the team, and they were very nervous to compete.”

What was a highlight of this season for the team?

“Making it to regionals. That was very exciting because we didn’t think we would but then we did.”

What players especially stepped up this season and how?

“[Junior] Caroline Chavez. She did an amazing job at getting tumbling quick and learning new skills. She’s just been doing an amazing job.”

What is coming up for the team and what do you think next season will look like?

“Next season I think we’ll learn from the skills this season and figure out what will work and what will not work.”
