Last year the team won 16 of its 23 games and hopes to build on that by having another solid year.

The team consists of motivated players who are committed to the program, especially the seniors who hope to go out with bang.

Senior Patrick McAuliffe, who plays the Libero position, says the team’s goal this year is to “make it to the playoffs.”

McAuliffe is playing for the fourth straight year and believes he can help the team reach its goal by acting as leader.

“I have learned to act as leader because I have been here four years; I know what to except and what the coaches expect. My experience allows me to do well on the court and I know how to rally the team up when we need crucial points,” McAuliffe said.

Others also hope to make the team better by stepping up and helping anyway they can.

Junior Eric Lee who is playing his third year said, “I want to dictate the offence and make sure the team is doing what they are supposed to”

Lee is a setter and his position allows him to make others around him better as he plays a key role in the team’s success.

Sophomore Mark Dyer said, “I can just get the team more excited as we were a bit sluggish last year but I could jump start the team by getting one key point and starting a rally.”

McAuliffe wants to set a good example for freshman on the team and that is why it’s important for him to act as a leader.

“As a freshman I saw some incoming freshman like me were not as interested because of how the team was playing but the next year the team made the playoffs and it sparked many players to be more committed,” McAuliffe said.
