Boys lacrosse aims for CMASS title

After going 16-7 in the regular season, a disappointing loss in last year’s Central Mass semi –finals put a damper on the end of the 2013 season.

“Our biggest goal is to win the Central Mass title and get back to the state championship game like we did in 2012,” senior captain Michael Wood said.

“We lost a lot of good seniors last year, and it’s going to be hard to fill the void for them. We just need to keep our heads down and focus on areas that need improvement,” Wood said.

The T-Hawks have a strong core of five seniors coming back for this season: Charles Kinne, Scott Carpinella, Ryan King, along with captains Michael Wood and Joe Mariano.

“I really believe in the group of guys we have this year, and I think we can really turn some heads in central Mass if we continue to work hard the way we have been during the off-season,” Mariano said.

The T-Hawks are coached by head coach Rich Luongo and assistant coach Pete Larson. The duo has led the Tomahawks to two consecutive Central Mass titles, as well as two state finals appearances in 2011 and 2012.

“They [the coaching staff] believe in us. It’s really nice when you have coaches that work for you just as hard as you work for them,” Mariano said.
