When entering Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, you are greeted by a welcoming staff and a simplistic but familiar atmosphere. Located on Shops Way at Northborough Crossing just across from Starbucks, the restaurant can’t be missed on your way into the plaza.

The atmosphere is of a classic pizza restaurant with an open patio giving the dining room a more relaxed feel. It has the capacity to seat many which can lead to loud noise if you visit on the weekend and maybe a small wait. A large bar on the side of the restaurant has views of televisions for restaurant goers looking to catch a sports game. The restaurant is suited for anyone from families with small children to friends looking for a night out on the town.

Customers are able to chose from a variety of pies including a Philly cheesesteak pizza, topped with caramelized onions and thinly sliced meat, and a mozzarella pizza prepared with tomato and basil. I went for the “traditional coal oven pie” fired with mozzarella cheese, italian plum tomatoes, romano cheese, basil, and olive oil. The ingredients were a perfect blend and overall contribute to the best pizza slices I’ve had in a long time.

Soda is offered in bottles that come with a glass of ice. Many restaurants offer fountain drinks with free refills but Anthony’s takes a different approach, which could up your bill depending on how many bottles are ordered. The staff was very courteous and friendly and ensured our every need was met. It was apparent the establishment had just opened as our server had another training waitress shadowing him.

If pizza isn’t your thing, Anthony’s offers oven roasted chicken wings with your choice of portion size, ten or twenty wings. Roast beef and tuna salad sandwiches can also be found on the menu.

Anthony’s coal fire pizza is definitely the next up and coming place to eat out.  The restaurant can be compared to Bertucci’s, which may offer complimentary bread and olive oil, but the pizza does not even compare. If you’re in search of a delicious thin crust pizza and a timeless atmosphere, be sure to check out Anthony’s.
