A Makeover Some Think is Unnecessary

In the article “The Abercrombie & Fitch Makeover: A Review”, Vanessa Friedman explains the recent change on the face of this popular retail store. Over the years, Abercrombie has been using the bodies of young men and women to advertise their clothing. It has been rather successful because this large retail store has been making a lot of money since their founding. Although I will miss the very attractive boys on the cover of their ads, I personally think it is a good thing that they have changed the face of their company. In the advertisements they haven’t shown the people in their clothes. They have them half naked with a pretty face which really shows nothing about the store and also can hurt a young teenager’s confidence. I think with this change, it will better the company’s outlook and the tweens confidence but could possibly worsen the money they bring in. over the years the girls have fantasized about the beautiful men in the photographs, so they buy Abercrombie’s clothes to think that if they wear it then maybe those kinds of boys would like them. So by covering up the men and women in the pictures, it will cover up the feelings these little girls and boys have.
