Response to “Prom-ise, being dateless isn’t awful”

April 29, 2015

The article “Prom-ise, being dateless isn’t awful” by Eileen Moynihan was positive, uplifting, and gave me a completely new understanding of prom and how other people view it. Although I did have a date to prom last year as a junior, I still think her article was a great way of presenting the idea of going dateless to prom. Prom means everything to most junior girls and the idea of not getting asked scares many. Moynihan shows that going dateless to prom is not only accepted, but it may also be more fun than going with a date.

Without a doubt, Moynihan changed my opinion of the typical prom tradition (going with a date), and now I think that going dateless should be a more considered option for girls. Showing that she had fun and still felt like a princess, without a date, said it all.
