Athletes will be heading into the fall season this year down a brand-new pathway at the entrance to the Dick Walsh stadium field courtesy of a generous donation to the athletic department.

“It was a combination of some very generous private donations, help from the Athletic Booster club, facilities, and the athletic department,” Athletic Director Karrah Ellis said. “It was a joint effort to spruce up our entrance, which it definitely needed.”

Planning for the project began in late summer.

The athletic department received the significant donation and ultimately decided the money could go to fund the new entrance.

According to students, this new addition showcases the constant consideration that our community puts into creating a better atmosphere for everyone.

“It shows that we care about our facilities and that we take pride in our school and the teams playing here,” senior and football player Colin Robinson said.

“I think it turned out really nice, and it’s a great entrance to the stadium before football and soccer games,” senior and volleyball player Brooke Suitum said.

Work on the path took place the week of September 5 and was completed in time for the first home soccer games on September 8.

“It’s because of a the efforts of a lot of people that it looks as nice as it looks,” Ellis said.

Several local companies were involved in the creation of the new path. Terrascaping and Construction from Westborough provided the hardscaping, and Bigelow Nurseries from Northborough donated the shrubbery.

“They did a great job with it,” Ellis said. “I’m just thankful for everyone’s efforts into completing the project.”
