On the evening of May 22, members of local high school theater gathered at the Mount Wachusett Community College theater for the annual Tamy Awards. The Tamy Awards recognize exceptional performances and productions in high school theater around the area.

Algonquin’s winter production of Good News received ten nominations, including best production. The football team walked away with one win, for Best Featured Ensemble.

Senior Sarah Milnamow is an avid member of the theater community at Algonquin. She has been nominated for multiple Tamy Awards, including one this year for her leading performance in Good News.

“They celebrate excellence in high school musical theater, so to be nominated for anything is a huge honor,” Milnamow said. “I think it’s really awesome that there is an organization out there that recognizes that and that brings us all together to celebrate.”

“We got ten nominations and I’m thrilled about that,” Algonquin theater director Mr. Alera said. “It’s been happening over the last few years which is really nice. The musical keeps getting better and better and bigger and bigger with the kids and nothing makes me happier.”
