iCraze offers scrumptious frozen yogurt
April 8, 2016
It happens like this: you’re taking an important test, and then your mind wanders off to think about a world with flying pineapples, permanently untangled earbuds, and free frozen yogurt. But, what about twelve ounces of free froyo? At iCraze Frozen Yogurt at 50 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, at least some of your in-class dreams can become a reality.
This cozy, colorful space silently challenges each customer: if you weigh your froyo and get exactly 12 ounces, you get that froyo for free. Which, by the way, doesn’t seem as hard once you see all the winners on iCraze’s Facebook page. But even if you do have to pay, iCraze is still a worthwhile place to stop by!
This Facebook page also posts flavors weekly, since the store rotates through 54 flavors at self-serve stations. There are 12 flavors per week. These flavors include classics, such as chocolate and cookies & cream, but they also have exotic flavors such as taro, tiramisu, and green tea. A number of toppings are also featured, including candies, brownie bits, boba, and fruits, as well as cereals like Lucky Charms and Rice Krispies. Lastly, some classic chocolate or caramel sauce and whipped cream is always available.
After weighing your delectable froyo creation (48 cents per ounce), be sure to grab a colorful plastic spoon (which little kids love, trust me) and head over to their comfortable seating area. Usually, the place is not overly crowded, and it is easy to find yourself a spot to sit down at a comfy couch or table and enjoy the monster you have created.
When I visited iCraze, I got a little bit of flavors that looked interesting, such as pumpkin pie and lychee, as well as some classic flavors that I couldn’t go wrong with. Next, I had a little fun with the toppings. One warning, however: Swedish Fish on your froyo seems like a good idea at first, but they actually freeze up and are no longer slightly squishy. If you’re cool with rock-hard Swedish Fish, though, then go ahead. Lastly, I unfortunately did not get exactly 12 ounces, but nevertheless, the price still wasn’t too bad.
In comparison with other frozen yogurt shops, iCraze is great due to its winter hours, wide range of toppings, and low-fat flavors. With two different bowl sizes, and a self-serve experience, the customer can pick exactly what he or she prefers.
Manager Thomas Tran says that iCraze is embracing a do-it-yourself theme with the frozen yogurt.
“[The customers] want to design their own cup,” Tran says.
Overall, iCraze is a great place to stop by at for a quick dessert, and I’d give it 5 out of 5 stars. Credit cards are accepted, and though winter hours are slightly shorter than the summer ones, a little bit of frozen yogurt is always acceptable year-round.
