The wrestling team has had another successful start to the season with a record of 12-6 highlighted by a victory at the Marlborough Tournament.

“Winning in Marlborough was great because everyone had to contribute,” senior captain and Western New England University commit Austin Roche said. “I think everyone’s effort in their matches definitely showed in the results.”

Although for junior captain Bryce Finnegan, there was adversity that he had to overcome.

“After the first day,” Finnegan said. “You have to have the same weight. On the second day I was over by three and a half pounds, but I was able to get it back and placing sixth in the Lowell Tournament is probably my proudest accomplishment so far this year.”

The team prides themselves on being different from any other sport offered.

“[Wrestling] is a lot more about individuals and a there’s a lot more weight on your shoulders,” junior captain Drew Cozzolino said. “The work you put in is what you get out so you are more reliable for your team’s performance.”

Along with Roche and Cozzolino, the team is lead by juniors Bryce Finnegan (126), Joe Vencile (heavy weight), and first year wrestler Colin Robinson (220). Come support the team at their next home match on February 3.
