What was the most helpful about this event and what was your biggest takeaway?

“Definitely learning that it’s ok to take a windy road. My biggest takeaway is to network as much as you can.”

Do you think an event like this should be continued in the future?

“Yes. Even if you don’t know what you want to do, it is helpful to get a glimpse into a lot of job opportunities because there are only a few talked about and I learned a lot about other job opportunities today.”

How did this event change or influence your career goals?

“Look into networking myself more and not being afraid to change my path if that’s what I need to do.”

Do you wish anything about the event was run differently?

“I think maybe knowing the kind of jobs that are being shown before you go in to get a better idea.”

Is there a career that was not here that you would have wanted to hear about?

“For me, probably more forensics stuff. Knowing the kind of jobs beforehand would be beneficial to better select what [students] want to go see.”

What was most helpful about this event and what was your biggest takeaway?

“The thing that was most helpful and my biggest takeaway is that all the people who spoke all kind of switched their careers in their lives which shows how you don’t have to have it all figured out.”

Do you think an event like this should be continued in the future?

“Yes, because I think it’s helpful to put into perspective how our high school careers are a small part of our lives and they’re not going to define us and our whole careers.”

How did this event change or influence your career goals?

“I think it made me realize that there are a lot of options and I don’t have to choose a very specific career path right now and I can be very open minded with my career choices.”

Do you wish anything about the event was run differently?

“Overall it was pretty good and I liked the timing. It was a good amount of time for each speaker to talk about their career but also there was time for people to ask questions. I thought people in my group were pretty engaged and asked a lot of questions.”

Is there a career that was not here that you would have wanted to hear about?

“I feel like they did represent every type of career really well but what kind of stood out to me for the education workshop was that there was no actual teacher, but it kind of makes sense because we are surrounded by teachers all the time, and it gives a different perspective about education careers that aren’t always in the spotlight.”

What was most helpful about this event and what was your biggest takeaway?

“We got to talk to people who are specialized in certain fields and you don’t really get that opportunity out of school.”

Do you think an event like this should be continued in the future?

“Yes, because it’s a really cool thing.”

How did this event change or influence your career goals?

“It didn’t really change my career choice but it gave me more insight into other career.”

Do you wish anything about the event was run differently?

“Nope, because it’s good for the time that was allotted.”

Is there a career that was not here that you would have wanted to hear about?

“Yes, I wanted to hear about nuclear/chemical engineering.”

What was the most helpful about this event and what was your biggest takeaway?

“That you got to pick the exact profession and job section you wanted. They worked really hard to get you into your top choices. You could pick the specific section you wanted to do and they worked really hard to make sure you got into the section that was at least your top four. In that section you could pick or meet people that were from different aspects of that job so if you were bouncing between something, you can always find what you want.”

Do you think an event like this should be continued in the future?

“Yes.”

How did this event change or influence your career goals?

“I met with healthcare people and they had an EMS Paramedic which was the job that I was already looking into and they also had people who worked in a jail cell with inmates which I haven’t thought of before.”

Do you wish anything about the event was run differently?

“I know some people didn’t totally get their first choice so maybe if they were a little bigger classes so more people could attend the ones that they are really interested in.”

Is there a career that was not here that you would have wanted to hear about?

“I was mostly interested in hearing people in the arts department that were [working on] their own commission work rather than actual professional professions, but there weren’t really people like that.”

Junior Lilly Bertonazzi

What was most helpful about this event and what was your biggest takeaway?

“My biggest takeaway was that there was a large amount of people that went into college thinking about one direction but then went into a different career, [you] don’t have to have your life planned out. All local people, people who went to Algonquin and are similar to this.”

Do you think an event like this should be continued in the future?

“One hundred percent, definitely.”

How did this event change or influence your career goals?

“I had a sense of what I wanted to do, but there was a veterinarian here, which is my dream job. I realized my dream could actually happen, and it motivated me to continue pursuing my passion.”

Do you wish anything about the event was run differently?

“Sometimes it got quiet and there were no questions, so maybe more question prompts could have been provided to students. There could have been a list of potential questions, or a checklist for speakers.”

Is there a career that was not here that you would have wanted to hear about?

“I don’t think so, there was a very wide variety of job opportunities here.”
