The boys’ cross-country team ended the regular season with a record of 3-1, led by senior captains Jonah Gould, Alex Shaw, Timothy Zhang and Nathan Meschisen. Gould looks back on the team’s successes.
How was your season overall?
“It was pretty good. We [had a record of] 3-1 in the regular season. We placed third in both the Leagues meet and the Central MASS meet. At Leagues, we came third to Wachusett by two points, but had a very strong showing from the sophomore class.”
What has been the highlight of the season?
“I would say the Twilight Invitational is a lot of fun. It’s this night race in Cape Cod where we get food. It’s just a good experience overall.”
What has been the most challenging part of the season?
“The most challenging part was losing a lot of seniors last year. In addition to that, we have been running a ton of challenging courses in preparation for the Division I State meet this upcoming weekend. We’ve been basically doing non-stop hills for most of the season.”
What is your team dynamic like?
“I’d say this is a very positive team dynamic. I feel like we didn’t really gain a ton of new people this year, so it’s still pretty much the same close group of people. A lot of people come to meets that they’re not running in just to support.”
