New Student Council President senior Amelia Sinclair plans to increase school spirit across the entire school and beyond school events.
Sinclair says the Student Council is there to ensure every student’s voice is heard. Sinclair has been part of the Student Council since she was a freshman class representative. In her sophomore year she was the Policy and Events Subcommittee co-chair, and in her junior year she was chair of that committee.
“It’s been a goal of mine to become Student Council President ever since I was a freshman,” Sinclair said. “I saw the specific passion that the president at the time had for the role, and I just thought it was very inspiring.”
Sinclair is proud of the Student Council’s work in recent years, and she hopes this year she can continue to increase spirit across the four grades by creating and continuing fun school events.
“I’m personally really hoping to increase school spirit,” Sinclair said. “I think we made a lot of progress with that last year by starting the point system pep rally as well as introducing some other school spirit initiatives such as the Halloween costume contents and the rock, paper, scissors contest.”
Student Council Treasurer senior Sarah Leonard is not only excited to work with the new officers, but she’s excited to see what Sinclair can bring to the school.
“I definitely think she’s very organized and she has a plan for everything,” Leonard said. “She’s good at including all council members and making sure their voices are heard. I think that’s a great quality as a leader.”
Sinclair also looks forward to working with the new Student Council officers.
“I think we have a really great group of officers this year and I’m really excited to collaborate with them,” Sinclair said.
