Students are encouraged to come together to listen to music, hang out and dance at the semi-formal homecoming on Saturday, Oct. 26.
From 7-10 p.m. in the A gym, Algonquin’s homecoming tradition continues after being dormant for the past two years. There will be a fire pit outside set up for roasting s’mores and an ice cream truck, along with concessions sold inside.
Junior President Brandon Truong, highlighted the importance of togetherness through school spirit and events, specifically for underclassmen.
“I want people to be excited,” Truong said. “In the movies and other schools, homecomings have so much weight to them.”
Junior Vice President Laurel Congdon-Hohman has been working closely alongside Truong to bring their plans, which they have been developing since the last school year, to life. She expresses disappointment in the underwhelming school engagement from students in the past and wants that to change.
“Ever since I have been here at Algonquin I have heard rumbles about a semi-formal homecoming,” Condgon-Hohman said. “I am excited we are actually doing it.”
As the Class of 2026 finalizes details, more information will be provided on the morning announcements, posters around school and promotion on their Instagram page. Games, activities and a live DJ are all things one can expect when attending.Tickets are currently available for purchase online or at the door for $10. Pizza, water and s’mores are complementary and outside guests are welcome.
“Come to homecoming,” Truong said. “Have a great time; be the trendsetter. Be the person that starts the fun. Don’t drag along. All the fun comes from people engaged. Let’s do it.”
