The boys’ golf season is in full swing and the team currently holds a record of 5-3. Senior captains Brennan Rice and Luke Palma have been confidently leading the team together. Rice reflects on the season so far and what he thinks the future will hold.
How is the season going overall?
“So far, the season has been pretty good. At practice we like to switch it up; we’re playing from the red tees today. We’re trying to go lower and get under par, which will help us shoot lower scores and hopefully that translates to the tips when we are in our matches.”
What was a highlight of this season so far?
“Our highlight of the season is our win over Nashoba. [Senior] Jackson Redfern came in real low with a score of 34. [The game] was actually a tie and we had to take another score, but we pulled it out. Nashoba is a good team.”
Who are some of your key players? What players especially stepped up this season and how?
“For this season I’d say [junior] Liam Dunn; he’s probably dropped 10 points. Last year he was on JV pretty much every match, but this year he goes out there and goes low.”
What is your team dynamic like and how do you work together?
“We like to consider ourselves a family. We like to have pasta parties and team dinners as much as possible.”
What do you think is the most challenging part of this season?
“It has got to be our match against St. John’s; we can’t compete on that level.”
What is coming up for the team?
“We have playoffs that we are looking to get into; we need to get [a total of] eight wins this season. Our whole varsity team other than Dunn is leaving next year, so looking ahead it is really going to be a rebuilding season.”
