Post-grad Scott Duessel was all smiles when he received his diploma on January 6 at a party celebrating his graduation.

Various students and classmates attended a graduation party for Duessel to celebrate the completion of his time in the classroom.

In attendance was senior Alex Green, Duessel’s buddy from the club Best Buddies. They were paired for one and a half years.

“It’s been a lot of fun [being his buddy],” Green said, “We’d typically go to the movies and then the mall afterwards. He’s a real movie fanatic.”

Duessel is known for his thoughtful, detailed way of approaching others.

[He will be missed for] his whole style of really being thorough and caring,” special education teacher Monique Cloutier said.

You can count on him to just be there, and do what he does on time.

Assistant Principal Paul DiDomenico presented a diploma to Duessel in front of many friends and classmates.

“Some students, when they go to post grad, they’ll just get a certificate of completion. But if [they] pass MCAS and get good grades, [they] can actually get a diploma,” special education teacher Kaitlyn Martin said.

Duessel will be paid to work at Marlborough Hospital, five days a week.

“He started volunteering [at the hospital] and they loved how well he did,” Cloutier said.

Prior to his experiences with Marlborough Hospital, Duessel worked briefly with Northborough Cable Access Television.

“He’s so detailed, he’d be done before she could give him more work,” Cloutier said. “You can count on him to just be there, and do what he does on time.”

“He’s very calm; he’s very clear,” Green said. “He’s just a friendly guy.”
