Students unite for French Day
November 18, 2014
French students from Trottier Middle School, Melican Middle School and Algonquin engaged in activities to celebrate French Day on Thursday, November 5 in the cafeteria.
Participants celebrated French through conversing, exploring its music, customs, and enjoying croissants.
“I hoped my students would model enthusiasm for the language and appreciation for the French culture,” French teacher Lauren Osepchuk said.
Each middle school performed their own song while French III did a lip dub and French II sang C’est la Fête.
“It was nice to be a role model to the middle schoolers, meet new people, and see some great performances,” freshman Paige Morse said.
However, Osepchuk said that the event was not all fun and games for the high schoolers; they had to direct the activities.
Junior Maya John agreed with Osepchuk, and was also surprised by the turnout of middle schoolers.
“We’ve had the most kids come this year; it’s nice to see the French development within our school system,” John said.
