EDITORIAL: We are in this together
October 7, 2020
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! For many of us, the past few months have been the worst of our lives, but with school comes a sense of normalcy that will hopefully guide us through the chaos of our reality.
With that being said, we want to emphasize the importance of seeing the bigger picture. While we are isolated, remember to take care of your physical and mental health. Be sure to keep in mind the incredible progress our country has made towards fighting racial injustice by organizing protests and having difficult conversations with friends and family. And don’t forget that the responsibility for the future of our world resides upon our shoulders.
During these difficult times, it’s especially important to keep our community connected. By publishing engaging and uplifting content this school year while also reporting on the hard-hitting topics, The Harbinger will hopefully be a platform where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Our content will be published on our website and social media accounts: follow us on Instagram and Twitter @ARHSHarby!
We want to be a reliable place you can go to for not only Algonquin news, but also news in the greater Northborough-Southborough community. And of course, we want to be able to give students a place to share their voices and opinions during a time in our lives when we aren’t always heard. Feel free to submit opinions, article ideas or letters to the editors to the Algonquin Harbinger’s email: [email protected].
People will look back to this year in the future and wonder how a global pandemic, a civil rights movement and a divisive election all happened in the span of one year. We feel especially bad for future students who will most likely have to take history tests on the year 2020: that is going to be one long chapter.
