SENIOR ATHLETE REFLECTION: Boys’ rugby seniors recall best moments

These interviews were done remotely due to COVID-19 precautions.
Because of the cancellation of the 2020 spring sports season, senior athletes reflected on the best moments from their time playing their sport at Algonquin.
Matthew Webster:
What are you most proud of from your time playing rugby at Algonquin?
“Being a part of the team and being able to share the experience with my teammates and to be there for my teammates.”
What will you miss most from playing rugby at Algonquin?
“Being out on the field and playing alongside my teammates.”
What is your favorite memory of rugby at Algonquin?
“Doing burpees until you can feel your body anymore.”
Ramzy Mesak:
What are you most proud of from your time playing rugby at Algonquin?
“I am proud that I joined a really hard working team and I made some really good friends”
What will you miss most from playing rugby at Algonquin?
“I will definitely miss my teammates, my coach and the sport I enjoyed playing.”
What is your favorite memory of rugby at Algonquin?
“My favorite memory was when we won our first game of the season and we were so happy and everyone was cheering for us.”
Raphael Pazi:
What are you most proud of from your time playing rugby at Algonquin?
“I am most proud of attempting to play the sport, because my Junior year was my first year on the team.”
What will you miss most from playing rugby at Algonquin?
“I’m gonna miss the bond our team had. We had a really tight knit, brotherly kind of bond. We always wanted the best for one another, even when we were yelling at each other for doing plays wrong.”
What is your favorite memory of rugby at Algonquin?
“My favorite memory has to be when I caught a mid-air ball and made some significant ground running with it then getting violently tackled. That was probably the best match I had.”
