Upcoming Big Meet“The varsity guys have a tournament at the Tsongas Center at UMASS Lowell [on Dec. 27]. It’s this 12 hour tournament. It’s the toughest tournament in New England, they call it, so we’re looking forward to that.”

Q&A with senior captain Michael Rogers

What is your goal for the team this year?

“To win sectionals. I think it’s extremely possible. We’ve got a good team this year.”

As a team, what do you need to do in the pre-season (and throughout the season) to achieve this goal?

“We only have two hours of practice every day, and I think we need to utilize that time as much as possible and work harder than all the teams we have to face.”

Who are some of the strongest returning players and why?

“Some of the older guys, like [senior captain] Alex Cheney and [senior] Andre Hird are the only four year seniors, so they have a big part with like leadership and the wrestling as well. [Sophomore] Tim Goddard is one of our stronger wrestlers, too.”

Who do you think will be your toughest competition this year and why?

“It’s kind of hard to tell because teams go through years of being super strong, but an opponent we always like beating is either Nashoba or Marlborough because it’s always close to us and we’re rivals“
