The Algonquin girls’ hockey team completed the tryout process at the New England Sports Center on December 1. The team’s athletes are primarily from Algonquin, who hosts the team, along with Hudson, Marlboro and Nashoba.

From Algonquin, every girl that tried out made the team and will be split between the A and B teams. Marlboro senior Christina Leonard was  announced captain along with assistant captains Algonquin junior Ava Domolky and Marlboro junior Amy MacGlashing.

Last year the team made it to the state semi-finals and hopes to replicate the same success this season.

“I think we’re on the same level if not better on offense so I hope we make it [to semi-finals] again,” Domolky said.

The team’s first game is against Oakmont Regional High and will be played on December 11 at 8 p.m. at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham.
