President of Algonquin Gives Back, Natalie Finn, shows dedication
Student president of Algonquin Gives Back, sophomore Natalie Finn, gives back to the community through her dedication to the club and the community
“AGB was started because there weren’t any clubs that were dedicated just to community service. Students need community service for colleges and National Honor Society so we wanted to make it easier for them to have the chance,” Finn said.
Finding community service for everyone in the club to participate in the small towns of Northboro and Southboro is difficult for Finn.
“Our teacher adviser Mr.Mawson receives emails from people in the community or other teachers that have ideas. Also people that i know personally hear about the club and will come to me with opportunities,” Finn said.
Running a club with very little guidance, besides the help from Mr.Mawson, is very demanding on the 16 year old sophomore. “Since the club does not have a schedule sometimes it’s hard to always find community service. also managing 30 kids in one meeting is very hard,” Finn said.
With the hope of the club continuing past her high school career Finn said, “We’re hoping to recruit a lot of new members and get the word out about AGB, but most importantly we want to do as much good for the community as we can.”
Algonquin Gives Back meets once a month, every month, all year in the B hallway.
