Lauren Speranzella: Freshman Fockey Phenom
Lauren Speranzella, a varsity field hockey player and freshman who has been playing field hockey for four years, spoke about her experience and future with the field hockey team.
Speranzella explained how she prepared herself for tryouts, “I went to a lot of summer camps. And I also practiced the workouts the coach gave us at the beginning of summer,” Speranzella said.
Speranzella enjoys the repetitions of practices. “We always do the same warm up and we do something called a flow drill where we like do all sort of moves, like pulls and lifts to goal, and we usually scrimmage at the end of each one.”
Speranzella spoke about her position on the varsity field hockey team, “I was the one with lots of spirit,”. “[To maintain my position I] worked hard at practice and tried my best and tried not to give up on myself,” Speranzella explained..
According to Speranzella the hardest things about field hockey are “Hitting on the move or learning how to play with your team.”.
Speranzella hopes to continue playing field hockey long into the future “Hopefully it will take me to college because I’d like to play there and scholarships for college.”
“[In the next three years I’m most excited about] improving and seeing how much the team will improve each year,” said Speranzella.
“My goals for field hockey in the next three years are to get more playing time,” said Speranzella.
