REVIEW: Pretty Little Liars continues to capture interest
Got a secret; can you keep it?
The phenomenon of ABC Family’s hit show Pretty Little Liars has been going on for years, but no one will ever understand what made it last so long.
Pretty Little Liars focuses on four girls, Spencer Hastings, Aria Montgomery , Hanna Marin and Emily Fields, who deal with their friend, Alison Dilaurentis’ mysterious disappearance. The day of the funeral, they receive anonymous threatening text messages from one who goes by the name “A.” The everlasting series then follows the four best friends whose lives become ruined by the infamous “A.”
On a typical Tuesday night, both girls and boys can be heard squealing about the newest episode.
“I like how you never know what is going to happen next,” freshman Heather Fields said, “There tends to always be an unusual plot twist that keeps you interested.”
Some like the show not only because of the plot twist, but for the characters, too. Senior Lauren Hesemeyer and freshman Kayla Morkert like the same characters for the same reason: fashion.
“Hanna is my favorite because of her sense of style. She wears loud statement pieces that adds a little bit of glamour to it,” Morkert said.
Pretty Little Liars has yet to capture the interest of every person. Some people do not enjoy it for various reasons.
“I don’t find it interesting because I think it is unrealistic,” said freshman Sebastian Royo, “I don’t think anyone would walk down an alley by themselves when they know there is a killer after them.”
The show is known for its suspenseful season finales that have viewers waiting months for the next episode premiere.
“I don’t like how they always end with cliffhanger, “ Hesemeyer said.
For some viewers the twists are going too far.
“Although I keep watching, it is getting annoying that they do not end the show. I think they are stretching it out too long,” said business education teacher Patricia Riley,“Take for example Breaking Bad, it ended their run at a time when interest was still high. I think if it keeps going PLL will start to lose fans.”
It’s now debatable whether or not Pretty Little Liars will still be able to catch more of their viewers attention or escalade downhill.
