Our Goal
A donation of $40 or more includes a subscription to the 2024-25 print issues of The Harbinger. We will mail a copy of our fall, winter, spring and graduation issues to the recipient of your choice. Your donation supports the student journalists of Algonquin Regional High School and allows our extracurricular publication to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.

Riya Mahanta, Editor in Chief
Riya began writing for The Harbinger as a News Editor her freshman year after taking Journalism. Ever since she saw her sister's copy of The Harbinger in 8th grade, she knew she wanted to write for the newspaper. Riya is currently an Editor in Chief although she still enjoys writing pieces in Arts and Entertainment and News. Outside of Harbinger, she writes for three other news outlets. In her free time, she likes to listen to music, specifically Ariana Grande and Drake, play tennis and paint.
Katherine Wu, Editor in Chief
Katherine started writing for The Harbinger her freshman year when she took journalism. Through Zoom calls and masked interviews, she quickly fell in love with the storytelling aspect of journalism. Katherine joined The Harbinger Editorial Board as an Arts and Entertainment editor, became the Online Editor the following year and currently serves as an Editor in Chief. In her free time, Katherine loves playing volleyball, tutoring for the Algonquin Writing Center and listening to music (especially Taylor Swift).
Ellie O’Connor, Online Editor
Ellie has been writing for the Harbinger ever since taking journalism in her sophomore year. Currently, as Online Editor, Ellie hopes to continue learning more and gaining experience in the club. Outside of the Harbinger, she runs cross country and track, enjoys reading, and hanging out with friends.
Marygrace Sarrasin, News Editor
Marygrace began writing for The Harbinger after taking Ms. Coppens's journalism class her freshman year. She first worked as an Assistant News Editor, and is currently a head News and Sports Editor, although she often branches out with Opinion and A&E pieces. Over the years, she has found a love for writing and reporting, and loves being able to interact with her peers through the newspaper. Her goal while writing for The Harbinger is to keep students updated and interested in events taking place at Algonquin and give students a voice in their community.
CJ Bourbeau, Senior Staff Photographer
After getting inspiration from video games, CJ has had a passion for photography ever since middle school. During his Sophomore year he took both Photojournalism and Photography at the same time to get the feel of what it’s like to truly be a photographer and to gain the skills he needs to work for the Harbinger. CJ loves to work for the Harbinger and is always up to the task to improve his art every step of the way and hopes to make it a full career in his future. In his pass time he likes to play video games, go in bikes rides, and watching movies.
Joceline Giron, Multimedia Editor
Joceline started writing for The Harbinger at the end of her freshman year. She had fallen in love with journalism when she was in middle school while she was on her school newspaper. She joined The Harbinger as an Arts and Entertainment editor, and is now currently Multimedia editor. She has a deep love for film which is seen in her blog, The Director’s Eye. When she has free time, she tends to spend her time taking pictures of her friends and family and playing video games.

Altea Mehillaj, News Editor
Altea took journalism during her freshman year and is the News Editor. She started writing for her middle school newspaper and fell in love with writing articles, so when she went to high school she knew she had to join the Harbinger. Outside of school, Altea loves to read, play tennis and spend time with friends and family (especially her dog).
Ananya Pandit, A&E Editor
Ananya started writing for the Harbinger her sophomore year when she took journalism. She knew she wanted to write for the newspaper when she read her first Harbinger article freshman year. Ananya is currently an assistant editor for Arts and Entertainment. Outside of the Harbinger, she tutors at the Algonquin Writing Center, volunteers in the Community Action Program and goes thrift shopping at least once a week.
Jeffrey Dratch, Opinion Editor
Jeffrey started writing for The Harbinger during freshman year after taking journalism class. After writing his first article in class, Jeffrey loved the process of crafting an article from start to finish, and is currently an Opinion Editor. Jeffrey loves Opinion because he gets to shed light to topics that don’t normally get discussed across the school community. Outside of The Harbinger, Jeffrey loves to ski, go to Trader Joe’s and listen to Lana Del Rey.
