English teacher Jane Betar
What was/has been the most difficult part of the pandemic for you? Why?
“Adjusting to remote and hybrid learning overnight has been the hardest for me. There’s also the change in socializing and having lunch with colleagues and friends, it was like everyone was on their own island in isolation.”
What is something good that has come as a result of your pandemic experiences?
“I learned a lot about digital teaching and learning. I loved the small classes of 12 kids. In the very beginning, like two years ago in March, I really appreciated how life slowed down. Especially in those first two weeks, I appreciated the slow pace of life and the time you actually had to spend time with family.”
What word or phrase best represents the last two years for you? Why?
“Exhausting, because it changed our way of living and thinking and it has ramifications for the future. It’s not just one and done. It was stifling, but it pushed me.”
