13 Going on 30
This 2004 flick is one for the books and throws in some life lessons while sharing this timeless story.
In “13 Going on 30,” Jenna Rink (Jennifer Garner) is about to celebrate her 13th birthday in 1987, but when her supposed friends embarrass her at her birthday, she wishes she could be 30, flirty and thriving.
Next thing she knows she is Jenna Rink, a big time magazine editor at Poise Magazine in New York City. The last thing she remembers is being a quirky thirteen year old with her best friend Matty (Mark Ruffalo) by her side. Now Matty is a handsome photographer in New York who hasn’t been friends with Jenna since middle school. Confused by the person she has become, Jenna needs to make things right before they are too late, while simultaneously repairing lost relationships and saving Poise from its competitor: Sparkle. This film pulled at my heartstrings as I believe everyone can relate to wanting to be something your not. It shows that sometimes you want to be careful what you wish for.
