Alicia Keys’ rendition of music

Alicia Keys is a visionary, and when we heard she was hosting the show, we had high hopes. To say that those hopes were met was an understatement as she exceeded every expectation that we had. From the moment that she brought Michelle Obama out with fellow female artists Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Jada Pinkett Smith, we knew that Alicia was going to bring it.

Besides surprising viewers with Obama’s appearance, Keys’ best hosting moment was a tribute to double piano playing jazz artist Hazel Scott. Sitting between two pianos, she played them both at the same time, without missing a key, proving once again why she has 15 Grammys. Her mixed medley of songs ranged over five decades, from Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly” to Drake’s “In My Feelings,” representing music she wished she had written herself because the songs were so well-made. She finished her melodic renditions with her own song, “Empire State of Mind.” In short, the performance was amazing and blew not only the audience but also the Twitterverse away, which is a feat accomplished in this era.
