The Holiday (2006)
The winter holidays scream rom coms. Have you seen the Hallmark channel? Only the trashiest movies to fill your hunger for fabricated love that would never actually happen in real life, but still has you glued to the screen because it’s just that good.
I live for rom coms, and if you’re anything like me, you will fall in love with “The Holiday.” How can you resist the darlings Jude Law and Cameron Diaz with Kate Winslet and Jack Black. Hey, if the girl from “Titanic” is in it, the movie has to be good. It would be a crime if it weren’t.
Amanda Woods (Diaz) and Iris Simpkins (Winslet) are two women who’ve never met each other and live on opposite sides of the world. They decide to switch houses over their winter breaks in order to get away from the struggles in their lives. Within this spontaneous adventure, they find lifelong friendships and love in the most unlikely of places. Don’t expect it to follow the formula of every other romantic comedy; “The Holiday” throws you for some loops that you definitely will not see coming. Grab a friend, a box of tissues and plenty of snacks for a movie that will make you laugh and cry.
