AP Human Geography
Next year, the social studies department is gaining a new class that is sure to shake up the way students see themselves as a part of the world: AP Human Geography.
“AP Human Geography will help students gain an idea of how humans use earth’s space,” social studies Amelia Davis said.
Students will study population and migration, politics, food production, and rural and urban land use.
“This course presents much more than the identification of latitudes and longitudes, or the memorization of city, state or county names and locations,” Davis said. “[The class] is a great example of a social science combining history, politics, and science to understand the intricacies of geography.”
AP Human Geography is offered to seniors who have successfully completed World History II or AP World History.
“I am very excited to teach this course, I hope students will be equally as eager to try something new!” Davis said.
