Not everyone knows how to cook, but at the fondue-themed restaurant, The Melting Pot, anyone can cook and create great food table-side in a fun, different way.

The Melting Pot located at 92 Worcester Road in Framingham, MA is a fondue restaurant that has made me want to return as soon as I can. The first thing I saw as I entered was a gorgeous glass wall full of wine bottles creating an upscale atmosphere.

Being new to fondue, looking at the menu almost felt like learning a new language. However with our amazing and involved waiter, understanding this new type of dining became simple.

I ordered the four-course fondue experience which allowed me to sample this new style of eating. We first chose a melted spinach artichoke cheese from diverse list of flavors. These cheeses were melted in pots in front of us with bread, tortilla chips, broccoli, and even sliced apples to dip. When I took bite of an apple covered in cheddar cheese, I tasted creamy cheese oozing around the sweet juice of the apple.

The second course was just decent salads, the most underwhelming course of the night by far. With the salads finished it was clear what we were waiting for, as the attention shifts to large pots of cooking broths and raw food presented before us that would become our dinner. With several different cooking styles to choose from there is certainly something for anyone. We chose the mojo cooking style, a caribbean broth seasoned with garlic and citrus, along with our meat selections of small steak slices and chicken pot stickers. To cook the food you place it in the pot of broth for just two minutes, and once the time was up it’s ready to eat with  a very well seasoned taste and flavor bursting in every bite.

Then, we were given our final course: chocolate fondue. There was nothing complicated to this one, and with many different chocolate flavors ranging from white to dark everyone can enjoy their preferred taste. My favorite was a rice crispie dipped in dark chocolate; the gooeyness of rice crispy blended perfectly with the richness of chocolate.

Overall the food at the Melting Pot is far above average and will leave you wanting to come back for more. However a reservation is a must and the full dinner experience took three hours to complete, so it is certainly a treat. Prices are also a little high with the four-course fondue experience costing roughly 40 dollars. With possibilities of add-ons as well, be sure you come prepared.
