As all students know, department costumes can get very creative, and teachers go all out to show their spirit for Halloween. It is something that many students look forward to, and teachers seem to have a great time putting it all together. Although it’s all fun and games, there are still some costumes that top all the rest. These are my top five Halloween department costumes from 2025.
#5 “Bluey” characters, Music Department
It was adorable seeing all the music teachers come together and dress up as the “Bluey” characters, an animated children’s series that is extremely popular. Each teacher had their own twist, some wearing onesies and others wearing sweatshirts with ears, to represent each character, and they seemed to have a good time with their costumes. Although their group costume was fun and well-coordinated, I found it a bit too simple compared to the more elaborate looks from other departments.
#4 80’s, Social Studies Department
This is a classic Halloween costume that never fails; seeing fun, bright colors and wigs galore was an amazing sight. The decorations lived up to the previous displays of the history hallway, and having the classic movie “16 Candles” play on an old TV was a great addition to the theme of the costume. The costume, along with the decorations, made it memorable, but compared to some other departments, it lacked some creativity.
#3 67, Math Department
Math tried to stay relevant to students by being the famous and constantly recited “67” meme. The factor that really made them higher up on the list for me were the different equations that each teacher had on their t-shirts in order to make an output of “67.” This was a fun and creative way to tie in math to their Halloween costume. It also seemed that they had put lots of time and effort into this costume, as they had to customize each individual shirt and order them weeks prior so they would be ready to showcase on Halloween.
#2 English teacher Tommy Alera, English Department
This year, English really went all out. They decided to dress up as English teacher Tommy Alera, with his classic blue crewneck and blue jeans. They stuck true to their colleague and represented him the best that they could, with some even creating a fake school ID with his profile picture. He practically came into school thinking he was looking into a mirror, as he wore the same exact outfit as the costume: a blue crewneck and jeans. It was great seeing so many Aleras walking down the hallway.
#1 Clowns, Health and Fitness Department
To top it all off, this year the Health and Fitness department won with their clown costumes. When walking past the gyms during the passing period, students could hear the eerie clown music and even Physical Education teacher Andrew Kinney riding his tricycle in circles. Some teachers had tons of makeup on, each with amazing costumes representing different types of clowns, with many props to accompany them. Although a scarier costume, it showed their spirit and their commitment to Halloween.
