What do you like best about working as a special education aide?

“I love the students and I love that I get to work one on one with them. Because I’m working one on one with them I can better fit their needs, and that’s something I love to do. It’s more helpful to them than just going in a classroom and trying to teach everyone.”

What do you do over the course of a day as an aide?

“Many many different things. We’re always hopping from one subject to another just like the other kids in the class and we’re also hopping from student to student. Each student can do completely different things. We do a lot of social activities, social-emotional, and we break down basic things a lot.”

What are the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your job this year?

“Our students have been really good with COVID, so that hasn’t been much of an issue. There haven’t really been any challenges.”

What do you think about working at ARHS?

“I enjoy it. Everybody here is very nice and the student population is fantastic. The general education students are really good with the special ed students and it’s just really nice to see that relationship between the two populations.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“I like to dance and I also like sports. I redo furniture. I’m a very crafty kind of person.

What would your students be surprised to learn about you?

“Probably that I can dance. That’s probably the most surprising thing.”
