The Local Boys feature band members seniors Dylan Shea, Owen Lyons, Chuck Murray, and Griffin Hill. This is the band’s album cover for “Waiting for Something,” which pictures each member when they were little.

What instruments do each of you play?
Chuck Murray: “I play the bass and I’m backup vocals.”
Owen Lyons: “I play guitar, Dylan plays guitar and is lead singer, and Griffin plays drums.”

How did you come up with your band name?
Murray: “Dylan’s dad was in a band when he was younger, too, and it had the term, ‘the local boys’ in one of their songs, and so we thought it was pretty cool so we used it for our band name.”

Do you guys consider yourselves a ‘boy band’?
Both: “No.”
Lyons: “We’re like a soft rock band, definitely not a boy band.”

Who is the most responsible and who is the least responsible band member?
Murray: “Owen’s the manager so he’ll book gigs and stuff, but when it comes to practicing, I think Dylan’s really responsible.”
Lyons: “Probably Griffin’s the least responsible, because I’ve always got to give him a ride.”

What’s the funniest thing that has happened during a rehearsal?
Murray: “Deesh [Dylan Shea] broke a string during rehearsal and then he restrung his guitar and then ripped another string during the actual show.”

Which member of the group is most likely to fall off the stage during a gig?
Murray: “It would be Griffin but he’s playing the drums so he’s sitting, so I guess me; I tore my ACL so I can’t really move.”

Do you write your own songs?
Murray: “Dylan writes the lyrics and then we develop it into a song as a band. We work together pretty well.”

Any upcoming performances or releases?
Lyons: “We’re working on a full album right now.”
Murray: “Yeah, for now, we have a four-song EP on iTunes and Spotify [Waiting for Something]. Go check it out.”

What’s your favorite part about being in a band?
Murray: “I don’t know. I mean, we’re in a rock n’ roll band; it’s just something cool to say. And also we all shared this thing that we have and then just grew and it’s been fun.”
Lyons: “Yeah, we’ve got great chemistry.”
Murray: “Yeah, great chem.”
