Senior Brandon DiFulvio possesses a unique talent: making hip hop music.

Making hip hop music has been a lifelong passion of DiFulvio, yet it is far more than just a hobby. The music DiFulvio creates has helped this aspiring artist make a name for himself and attain a promising future in the music industry.

Difulvio started making music well before high school.

“I started [making music] around the age of five by learning to play the piano,” DiFulvio said. “No one really influenced me to start; I sort of just started on my own.”

Today, DiFulvio uses an electronic instrument for making music that better suits his hip hop style.

“I use a MPC, or a music production controller,” DiFulvio said. “With the MPC I make a variety of music like R&B, hip hop, trap, and dubstep.”

DiFulvio is making great progress in the music industry. As DiFulvio posts his music on Soundcloud and Youtube, other artists are acknowledging his talent.

“A couple of artists have contacted me,” DiFulvio said. “Alyssa Galarza, an R&B singer, contacted me through Instagram. She wanted me to make some music for her latest album.”

Northborough cable access TV director Kathy Dalgliesh first met DiFulvio two summers ago when he asked for time in the recording studio. Ever since, Dalgliesh has been observing DiFulvio’s success and improvement for years

“Brandon is incredibly talented,” Dalgliesh said. “He has even grown beyond the beats and hip hop and has become way more musical than someone with a standard rap background.”

DiFulvio is determined to continue improving his skills beyond high school.

“I’m trying to become a famous music producer someday,” DiFulvio said.

Dalgliesh supports DiFulvio’s ambitions, believing he will accomplish his goals.

“He can do a lot with his future,” Dalgliesh said. “Brandon just needs to find his niche in the music world.”

Although he has the skills necessary to make it in the music world, DiFulvio agrees that talent is not the only thing needed to succeed.

“Music is all about contacts,” DiFulvio said. “The more people you know the better.”
Nonetheless, at a young age DiFulvio has already developed essential connections, launching him into a world of opportunity.
