Setting a good example on and off the lacrosse field: Senior captain Michael Wood

Senior lacrosse captain Michael Wood has been preparing for this year’s upcoming season mentally and physically.

Wood will be starting this year at center attack, a position he has clearly mastered.

“I have been playing on varsity for four years, ever since I was a freshman,” Wood said.

The senior lacrosse captain commented on what was his proudest achievement so far was, “Making varsity as a freshman, and then continuing on to reach the state finals freshman and sophomore year.”

However, Wood is far from satisfied with what he has done so far.

“Our biggest goal this year is to win a state championship, work together as a team and win it all,” Wood said.

After last year’s season concluded, Wood was awarded captainship and ever since he has been doing his best to fill that role.

” As captain, I try to be a leader on and off the field. I try to set good examples for the younger players, whether it’s showing confidence in big moments during a game, or making smart decisions outside of lacrosse,” Wood said.

Although Wood is a senior, after this year’s season, his lacrosse career is far from over.

“I will be playing college lacrosse at the University of Western New England, a division 3 school.” Wood said.
